October 2 - 4, 2008    Langdale Auditorium

This A Christmas Carol goes beyond other adaptations with a unique dramatic concept: At the opening curtain, Charles Dickens himself is introduced to the audience, ready to present one of the famed platform readings of his stories that packed auditoriums in Europe and America. Of course, the story chosen is one which he often performed, A Christmas Carol. The story unfolds behind him, and soon Dickens is weaving in and out of the action, observing, performing small roles, interpolating short passages of rich narrative never heard in other versions. Back by popular demand, please join Scrooge, Tiny Tim, the Crachits, and all those wonderful characters from Christmases past as they give the Valley another wonderful Christmas present!

December 11 - 13, 2008    New Horizon Theater

Ray Cooney's comedy finds Richard Willey in the Westminister Hotel with a young lady. A problem soon arises - in the shape of a dead body stuck in the window of their suite. As Richard should not be with the young lady in the first place, he can't report the body to either hotel management or the police so (foolish fellow) he enlists the aid of his Secretary, George Pigden, Richard's wife, the wily waiter, and the suspicious hotel manager, who are soon added to the mayhem which includes a private detective (where did he come from?) and George's mother's nurse (where did she come from?). Out of Order won London's Lawrence Olivier Award for "Comedy of the Year" and went on to be another world-wide hit. If you enjoyed last season's Arsenic and Old Lace, you'll love Out of Order.

February 19 - 21, 2009    New Horizon Theater

For the classical musical theater crowd, this year we've included the wildly successful and often revived Annie Get Your Gun. With lyrics and music written by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert Fields and his sister Dorothy Fields, the story is a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley and her husband, Frank Butler. The 1946 Broadway production was a hit, and the musical had long runs in both New York and London, spawning Broadway revivals in 1966 and 1999, a 1950 film version and several television versions. Songs that became hits include "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Doin' What Comes Natura'lly," "You Can't Get a Man With a Gun," "They Say It's Wonderful," and "Anything You Can Do."
